Victoria Marsh, a solicitor in Russell & Russell’s wills and probate department, has gained her Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
STEP is the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations. The accreditation awarded to Victoria demonstrates best practice and professional integrity in her wills and probate work.
Victoria, who works at the firm’s head office in Bolton, joins a number of solicitors at the firm who are accredited to STEP and older client care practices. All Russell & Russell’s probate solicitors are also members of Solicitors for the Elderly, an independent organisation of legal advisers who provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. The department is a member of Dementia Friends and is accredited to the Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS) which sets the benchmark for best practice and transparency in the provision of wills and estate planning services.
In addition to its normal probate service, the firm also runs two free legal clinics every week. Members of the public can drop in to the Farnworth office on a Wednesday between 1 – 4pm to discuss any probate or family law matters. Alternatively, the Atherton offers the same service on a Friday between 1pm and 5pm.
Commenting on Victoria’s qualification, Judith Bromley, head of wills and probate at Russell & Russell, said: “The STEP accreditation is not easy to attain; it requires a lot of additional work and study on top of holding down a full time job, so all credit to Victoria for achieving it. As a firm, we’re committed to helping everyone who comes through our doors and Victoria’s certification means that she’s appropriately skilled to help our more vulnerable clients.
