In this profile feature, we meet another member of Russell & Russell’s Conveyancing team, Natasha Cairns.

Natasha is a qualified Paralegal with over 16 years of conveyancing experience and is a member of the Institute for Paralegals.

She originally joined Russell & Russell in 2012 and works at our Middleton office, specialising in residential sales, purchases and re-mortgage work.

Russell & Russell currently employs over 90 people in our Conveyancing Department. Our team includes qualified Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers and Chartered Legal Executives, and together has a wealth of experience and knowledge of all aspects of conveyancing. The firm is accredited under the Law Society Conveyancing Quality Scheme and our conveyancers benefit from Continuing Professional Development.

All our conveyancers are closely supervised by one of our Senior Solicitors, each of whom has considerable experience of conveyancing and is a specialist in this type of legal work.

In this Q&A, Natasha gives us more insight into her background and working life.

What is your job title and experience?

I am a conveyancer. I have 16 years’ experience and specialise in residential conveyancing.

Why did you decide to work in the legal industry?

I got into the industry by accident. I started as an office junior and progressed from there.

How long have you been at Russell & Russell?

I’ve been with Russell & Russell for 12 years.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The best thing about my job is working as part of such a great team. I also love the job satisfaction of completing a transaction and making my clients happy. It is especially rewarding if it’s a client’s first home and they are super excited.

What do you find most challenging about your job?

The most difficult part of the job is managing clients’ expectations. Conveyancing can be unpredictable, and most clients do not realise the amount of work involved in the background of a transaction.

How has the conveyancing sector changed since you started?

Things have changed quite a lot since I started working in the sector. Conveyancing is now heavily technology based. When I first started, you used to rely on the day’s post to schedule your working day; now, correspondence is coming in all day via various different methods.

What changes to conveyancing do you anticipate going forward?

I suspect that eventually the whole process will be done electronically. We are already seeing moves in this direction, with electronic signatures being slowly introduced.

What advice would you give someone who wants to become a solicitor or work in the legal industry?

The job can be challenging, and it takes a lot of hard work to manage your workload and other demands on top of clients’ expectations. Being organised and finding an efficient way of working will most certainly help.

Some of Natasha’s recent testimonials include:

“Fantastic service from start to finish.”
A big thank you to everyone at Russell & Russell, especially Natasha, who was always on hand to give great advice.

“Brilliant.”

Natasha has been brilliant! She always answered my queries quickly and has made the conveyancing process very easy.

“First class.”

I couldn’t have asked or hoped for a better person to deal with the sale and buying of my new property. She is a true credit to you and your team. FIRST CLASS. Thank you.
