Vacancy Description: Apprentice – IT Department 

Learning Provider: Bolton College 

We have a vacancy for an IT Apprentice at our Bolton office.

The position will involve providing support to the IT Team and reporting directly to the IT Director, the person will also provide support to all other departments in any IT related problems. The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills.

Working within a busy office with a friendly team of people, you will be expected to carry out the following duties:

  • Provide 1st & 2nd Line support on the helpdesk
  • Learning to developing the case management systems
  • Maintain various IT vendor portals
  • Take support calls from all members of staff onsite & remote
  • Train staff on bespoke and mainstream applications
  • Provide backup and restore all systems
  • To perform server and desktop maintenance on a schedule
  • Provide Citrix and remote users support
  • To assist in developing applications

Skills Required    

  • Ability to learn and programme 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop & Server operating system
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of networks 

Qualifications Required    

5 GCSEs grade 4 and above including Maths and English (or equivalent) but will accept applications from all candidates.
